FAQ

Static Apnea Trainer questions, answered directly.

The short version: Static is a dry breath-hold training app for CO2/O2 tables, not a water-safety tool, medical device, or sleep-apnea product.

What is Static Apnea Trainer?

Static is an iPhone and iPad app for dry breath-hold training. It includes CO2/O2 tables, a beginner plan, custom tables, phase cues, local progress, and safety education.

The app is meant to make dry table practice more predictable: preview the session, follow the timer phases, save what happened, and avoid turning every workout into a maximum attempt.

Can I use Static in water?

No. Static is for dry practice only. Do not use it in a pool, bath, open water, while driving, or anywhere a loss of consciousness could cause harm.

In-water breath-hold training needs separate safety systems, in-person supervision, and a trained buddy. A phone app is not a rescue tool.

What is a CO2 table?

A CO2 table usually keeps the hold steady while recovery gets shorter round by round. Read the CO2 table training page for the full explanation.

Use the CO2 table generator when you want a conservative fixed-hold table from a current dry static PB.

What is an O2 table?

An O2 table usually keeps recovery generous while the breath-hold gets longer. Read the O2 table training page for the full explanation.

O2 tables are higher risk than CO2 tables because the pressure comes from longer holds. Use conservative caps and stop early when a round stops feeling controlled.

If you only need a quick browser estimate, use the O2 table generator and compare it with the easier CO2 structure first.

Where should I track dry progress?

Use the breath-hold progress calculator for confirmed baseline-versus-current PB changes, not for daily maximum attempts.

For ordinary session notes, use the static apnea log template or the app when you want timers, tables, and history together.

Does Static require an account?

No. Core training does not require account creation. Training history is stored locally on the device by default.

This keeps first-use friction low and avoids making dry training notes depend on a web account.

Does Static work offline?

Core plan, tables, timer, cues, reminders, and local history are designed to work on device. App Store purchases and analytics may require network access.

Is Static for sleep apnea?

No. Static is not for sleep-apnea treatment, diagnosis, monitoring, prevention, or medical decision-making.

How do I get support?

Use the support page or email info@staticapneatrainer.com.

Include your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, what you were trying to do, and the shortest clear description of the issue.

Where should I start?

If you are new, start with the beginner breath-hold plan and the static apnea timer. If you already know your dry PB, use the CO2/O2 table guide to choose the right table type, then generate a conservative browser table before moving to app-based sessions.

Do not start with O2 tables just because they sound more advanced. Learn controlled recovery, repeatable holds, and stop rules first.

Safety boundary

Breath-hold practice can cause loss of consciousness. Underwater loss of consciousness can lead to drowning. Static does not replace medical advice, freediving instruction, rescue training, or in-person supervision.
